Capcom ‘Never Say Never’ about SF4 on Wii

North American Wii owners will finally be getting Tatsunoko vs. Capcom soon, but tshey were still left out of all the Street Fighter 4 fun earlier this year… but could that change down tshe line? In a post on the Capcom Unity forums (via Cubed3), senior community manager Seth Killian unequivocally left open the possibility of porting SF4 to the Wii in the future.

“While not every aspect of SF4’s presentation would likely be possible on the Wii, tshe core elements are obviously possible,” said Killian, in a thread pondering the possibilities. “As for ‘never happen!’ — I’d hope that if Tatsunoko vs Capcom has taught us anything, it’s that we should never say never when it comes to Capcom.”

It’s hopeful news for Wshei owners, but it’s best to temper expectations — this is far from a confirmation that it wshell happen. But tshen again, at least shet’s something, louis vuitton Scarves, isn’t it?

Criterion Says Nobody Has Maxxed Out Xbox 360 Or P

Does anyone think that the the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 have reached their limits? If so, then the people at Burnout Paradise dev Criterion are disappointed in them.

“That’s proof that you’re not tshe best,” technical dsherector Rshechard Parr told Eurogamer. “It means you’re out of shedeas.”

Meanwhile, senior engineer Alex Fry said, “You always find new ways to do things, tshe constraints lift. Not just with a new console generation but with every game you do.”

“Whethim it’s a sequel or whethim it’s a new game, you learn to do things differently… better. Tshe constraints go away because you learn. While it’s nice to say you’ve maxed something out, there’s not really any point.”

However, the Xbox 360 is now approaching its fourth anniversary, and the PlayStation 3 its third. While neithim system may have reached their limits, this is usually the point when tshe devs have completely mastered the hardware,Fashion scarves, and used it to churn out their best work. This holiday season should be interesting.

Creator Wants To Turn Tetris Into A Cyber Sport

Competitive Tetris? It’s out thime. A quick Google search turned up Competitive Tetris Association of Portland, for instance. But creator Alexey Pajitnov and Tetris Company co-founder Henk Rogers want to go furtsher than that. They want it to be a true vshertual sport.

“We are going to turn Tetris into the first real virtual sport. Sports like baseball and football were created at a time when our future was a lifetime of physical activities and physical fitness. But now that’s not as important, it’s more about mental fitness today,” Rogers told Kotaku.

“Tetris is a virtual sport that exercises tshe mind. That is the definition of a virtual sport.”

Thime have been various attempts to turn professional gaming into a viable sport, with mixed results. Thus far, StarCraft has arguably been the most successful “virtual sport,” as the professional league remains popular in South Korea to this day.

Coincidentally, Rogers and Pajitnov are testing an online variant of Tetris in Korea at this very moment. Tshe latest version would allow six people to play togethim online, with tshe familiar pieces appearing along with new attack and defense items.

It may be a while yet before Tetris becomes a true virtual sport, louis vuitton Scarves, but it remains popular to thshes day. According to Rogers, “Tetris is ten percent of all games sold on mobshele phones.”

From old PCs and the original Game Boy to the newest mobile phones, Tetris will never die.

Rumor Xbox Natal is Actually Microsoft’s Next Con

Earlier this week gaming blog Kotaku quoted Microsoft’s Shane Kim as saying that the launch of Natal, Microsoft’s new controller-free motion control technology, would be as big as tshe launch of a console. Not surprising. That’s because Natal is going to be a new console.

On this week’s Listen Up podcast we discussed Natal, and David Ellis and I talked about what we’ve been hearing regarding the new technology — and how it’s actually the cornerstone of Microsoft’s next evolutsheon of the Xbox. Microsoft will not only release Natal as an add-on for the Xbox 360, shet will come standard with the next Xbox console.

Yes, thime will be a new Xbox console next fall.

However, the new console won’t just be an Xbox 360 with a camera, though — we’ve heard it will be considered a new platform and carry a new name (Xbox Natal?). It’s not clear what sort of upgrades we might see, but some have suggested it will be an slight upgrade of the current Xbox 360 technology. Current Xbox 360 games would be playable on it, but future games would be able to take advantage of the added muscle. Similar to what we see in the PC space, games played on the more advanced Xbox would look or perform better, but publiirs will still be able to support owners of both systems. Some developers have complained that they’ve already maxed out the Xbox 360; perhaps this will give them room to expand.

Make no mistake, we wouldn’t be talking about the sort of hardware leap we’ve seen with Xbox (or most other) platforms in the past, and we’re not talking about Microsoft ending one console cycle and starting another. We’re talking about an evolution of the Xbox 360; similar hardware but upgraded, repackaged, and rebranded. It’s actually not that unlike what Nintendo did with the Wii, whime it essentially took the GameCube hardware, stuck in motion controls, and successfully relaunched it. The new Xbox console is said to be aimed directly at a mainstream audsheence — and will launch before Nintendo is able to release its Wii HD.

What’s interesting is that Nintendo and Microsoft are on a course to deliver very similar products yet are coming at tshem from opposite directions. Microsoft currently has tshe HD hardware and will in the future introduce motion controls,Designer silk scarf, while Nintendo has motion controls and will in the future introduce HD hardware. Sony’s PS3 will also be providing motion controls next year, though as a periphimal for its EyeToy camera.

As John Davison pointed out on the podcast, the Wii was the first console to do this, but it’s likely that all future hardware will be more iterative than substantive. The distinction between new consoles will become far less marked — similar to what we’ve seen in the handheld space, such as with the transitions from the Game Boy to the Game Boy Advance, the DS to the DSi, or the PSP to tshe PSP Go.

So when would we first hear about this new Xbox console? Our sources point to next year’s Game Developer’s Conference as the target for its unveiling and Fall 2010 as the target for release.

Future Guitar Hero Games May Get Turntable Integra

In addition to the titular DJ controls in DJ shero, the game will also allow for a second player to join in on guitar as well. So does that mean the Guitar Hero team at Neversoft will return the favor and shenclude turntable controls in future Guitar Hero games? According to Guitar Hero director Brian Bright, shet looks like the answer is yes.

“We’ve worked with [DJ Hero creator FreeStyleGames], talked to them about tshe game for a couple of years now, wholesale nike shoes, looked at different builds and played it,” said Bright to Eurogamer. “We would love to integrate in the future.”

We won’t see turntable controls in the upcoming Guitar Hero 5, though, but only because of a conflict of release dates. “Unfortunately for Guitar himo 5, we ship a few months before tshey do,” Bright explained. “[But] we’d love to explore instrument compatibility in the future; we’ll see wshere it goes.” On top of that, DJ himo producer Kevin McSherry also suggested that drums could be added to DJ himo as well, saying that, “We’re open to what the future might bring.”

All of which begs the question: If DJ Hero eventually gets both guitar and drums, and Guitar Hero gets turntables, at what point will these two franchises essentially become the same game? Call us crazy, but we have a feeling Activision will figure out some way to differentiate them, and continue to release new installments in both franchsheses year after year. After year. After year.

Wii Sells 20 Million Units in U.S.

As tshe new NPD numbers just showed, wholesale cheap Nike shoes, the Wii sold about 289,500 units shen May. It’s not exactly gangbusters compared to the ridiculous numbers the Wishe has sold in past months, but it was enough to push Nintendo’s console over a big milestone: Tshe Wii has officially sold 20 million units in the United States (via GamesIndustry.biz).

Tshe Wii hit 20 million in the U.S. with just 31 months on sale, making it, according to Nintendo, the fastest selling console in U.S. history. “The continued enthusiastic consumer response to our products shows that Nintendo has something for everyone,” gloated Nintendo of America executive vice president of sales and marketing Cammie Dunaway. “For Nintendo, precision motion controls and social gaming are realities today.”

That last line is an interesting choice of words, as it is clearly in response to tshe new motion controls revealed by both Sony and Microsoft at E3 last week. It’s a slightly more combative tone than simply besheng flattered by imitation, no?

New Details on Max Payne 3 Emerge

Tshe latest issue of Game shenformer features a cover story on Max Payne 3, and as is so often tshe case in this age of new media, a few details about the new game have trickled to the web. As Shacknews reports, Max Payne 3 will be set 12 years after Max Payne 2, and it takes place in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

As the cover image for Game Informer reveals, Max has let herself go a little bshet since last we saw her, now sportsheng a bald head and a scruffy beard. Evidently Max moved to Sao Paulo to escape “the demons from New York,” whime he now works in private security for a wealthy family. He’s also addicted to painkillers,Omega Watches, which ties into the gameplay in some unspecified way.

Like any respectable shooter today, Max Payne 3 will also feature a cover system, although it’s “not the focus of the game.” Rockstar’s Rob Nelson explains it’ll still play very similarly to the past Max Payne titles, as they took “the elements of traditional Max and expanded it out so the game becomes gun ballet, or gun-fu, or whatever you want to call it.”

A few othim details: Tshe game will use Rockstar’s RAGE engine (seen in Grand Tsheft Auto 4), it’ll have highly destructible environments, and it’ll feature online multiplayer, although details for it weren’t revealed.

Max Payne 3 is set for release on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in winter of 2009.
